Leadership and Advisory Board

The NavisEd Advisory Board brings together experienced leaders from higher education, student services, academic affairs, and instructional development, with deep expertise in recruitment and admissions strategy, student success and retention, teaching and learning design, compliance aligned practice, and workforce connected education.

Drawing from experience across public and private institutions and across K-12 and higher education, the Advisory Board provides strategic guidance to ensure NavisEd’s training remains practical, convenient, and aligned with the real challenges educational institutions face, helping shape content that strengthens institutional confidence and improves student outcomes from enrollment through completion.

Douglas Doran, MBA
Founder and CEO, NavisEd

 

Douglas brings more than fifteen years of experience in higher education, with a focus on student recruitment, admissions strategy, and enrollment management across public and private institutions. He has served in leadership roles overseeing enrollment operations and has led the development and implementation of Strategic Enrollment Management Plans aligned with institutional priorities and long term goals. Throughout his career, Douglas has focused on training and developing recruitment and admissions professionals, building systems and practices that support consistency, clarity, and confidence in student facing work. He holds a Bachelor’s degree and a Master of Business Administration.

Ivy Avanzado, MS

Education Solutions Consultant

 

Ivy has 12 years of comprehensive higher education experience spanning both student services and academic affairs. Within student services, Ivy has worked in recruitment, admissions, academic advisement, counseling, disability resources, and athletics. Within academic affairs, she serves as a college instructor teaching First Year Experience and Psychology courses and has contributed as a course production specialist. She holds a Master’s in Psychology from Arizona State University. Ivy is dedicated to supporting students from enrollment through graduation with both professional expertise and genuine care.

Henry Smith, MEd
Learning & Instructional Development Consultant

Henry is an experienced educator with over 14 years in both K-12 and higher education institutions. He successfully raised a Phoenix K-8 school’s performance rating from a “D” to a “B” through strategic academic interventions. Throughout his career, Henry has prioritized mentoring teachers, implementing support programs and technology-integrated instruction to enhance their teaching skills. Currently, he applies this leadership as a Program Manager at Rio Salado College, overseeing a multi-million dollar federal grant focused on student success and retention. His expertise spans from hands-on classroom instruction to large-scale program management, consistently driving improvement in educational outcomes.

Dr. Lori Marie Huertas
Storyteller, Public Speaker, People & Culture Leader, Organizational Growth Strategist

Lori is a strategic higher education leader with experience advancing student success, career readiness, and inclusive leadership development across diverse institutions. She has led cross campus initiatives that strengthen employer partnerships, expand experiential learning, and improve career outcomes for underrepresented and first generation students. Known for translating vision into action, Lori designs and scales mentoring, career connected learning, and workforce aligned programs that enhance student confidence, cultural capital, and professional readiness. Her work spans industry partnerships, faculty collaboration, and institution wide strategy, consistently supporting measurable gains in student engagement, retention, and post graduation success.

Kristi Roza-Cabello

Content Development Consultant

Kristi brings over 20 years of experience in higher education and is dedicated to empowering students to reach their full potential. She specializes in transforming career readiness into a personalized, student-centered journey, leveraging a strong background in professional development, outreach, and engagement to create meaningful opportunities for the next generation of leaders. Kristi’s work is grounded in career advising and coaching, workforce preparation, and strategic recruitment and community engagement. Guided by a commitment to mentoring, relationship-building, and individualized support, she focuses on helping students navigate their academic and professional pathways with confidence and purpose.
